Congressional Leader Tours JKM

U.S. Rep. Martha Roby Takes Tour of JKM Manufacturing Plant in Alabama

EUFAULA, AL – Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL) took a tour this week of an American original that's proud of the made-in-the-USA label: the JKM Manufacturing, Inc., plant in the heart of Alabama.

Rep. Roby, elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 to serve Alabama's 2nd Congressional District, spent nearly an hour touring aerospace manufacturer JKM at its headquarters in Eufaula, AL. She was accompanied by her staff, Chief of Staff Stephen Boyd and District Director Joe Williams.

JKM CEO Chad B. White and plant Manager Lexington W. Scroggins were on hand to greet Rep. Roby for a tour of the 22,000-square-foot plant, which employs about 30 people.

"We're honored that Rep. Martha Roby visited JKM Manufacturing to see how companies can succeed right here in the heart of our nation, creating jobs for American families," White said. "Our nation has a proud industrial history as innovators. That's a legacy JKM works hard to uphold."

JKM is a leading manufacturer of complex wire harness assemblies, rugged electronic systems, circuit card assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies and other specially engineered products. It manufactures products for military contracts directly and as a subcontractor to partners in the defense, aviation, communications and aerospace industries.

"Alabama has been a great state in which to manufacture," White said. "The state government has opportunities to train people, and they do a good job in partnering with industry."

Rep. Roby sits on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Education and the Workforce Committee. She is a strong advocate for greater efficiency, transparency and accountability in the 112th Congress.

"There is no doubt that job creation is the number one issue in our country and in our state. To help employers, we must ensure that we remove any federal regulations that will unleash the private sector and spur growth," said Rep. Roby.

She added, "Touring JKM Manufacturing is an opportunity for me to see, first-hand, how this facility is remaining secure in this economy. The company is a stellar example of the successful businesses in Alabama that are helping to revive America's economy with jobs."

A native of Montgomery, AL, Rep. Roby served on the Montgomery City Council before being elected to Congress. She has a bachelor's of music degree from New York University and a law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. Before entering public service, she practiced law at Copeland, Franco, Screws & Gill, P.A.
