U.S. Navy Awards JKM Manufacturing Initial $98,000 Contract, Part of IDIQ with a Potential Value of $8.5 Million, in Support of Naval Surface Warfare Center

EUFAULA, AL (Nov. 8, 2011) – JKM Manufacturing, Inc., announced today that it has won an initial $98,000 Navy contract as part of a multiple award IDIQ with a potential value of $8.5 million.

JKM is a leading manufacturer of complex wire harness assemblies, rugged electronic systems, circuit card assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies and other specially engineered products. It manufactures products for military contracts directly and as a subcontractor to partners in the defense, aviation, communications and aerospace industries.

Under the contract, JKM will provide cable assemblies and wiring harnesses for various weapons systems in support of the Naval Air Systems Command, the Naval Sea Systems Command and the U.S. Special Operations Command.

"We're honored to be working with the U.S. Navy and its various operations," said JKM CEO Chad B. White. "JKM Manufacturing is committed to partnering with our customers to deliver on-time, quality components in defense of our nation. All of us who work at JKM are dedicated to the men and women who defend our country."

JKM General Manager Lexington W. Scroggins said JKM was one of six companies across the country that were each being awarded firm-fixed price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts with a potential value of $8.5 million.

Indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts provide for an indefinite quantity of services during a fixed period of time, according to the U.S. General Services Administration. IDIQs are used when the GSA can't predetermine, above a specified minimum, the precise quantities of supplies or services that the government will require during the contract period.

Scroggins said work will be performed at JKM's plant in Eufaula, AL, and is scheduled to be completed by September 2016. Under the contract, JKM is expected to potentially add 6 employees to its payroll, which will help fuel the lagging economy.

Government officials said the contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with seven proposals received. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Crane, Ind., is the contracting activity.

"JKM is looking forward to working with the Naval Surface Warfare Center," Scroggins said. "This is a great opportunity to help serve our nation and boost the economy."
